Conservation areas and listed buildings

New windows there have to look like the ones they replace. We make them like for like: the same sash or casement, the same profiles, glazing bars of the same width and pattern, and the horns, mouldings and sill of the original. Slim double glazing keeps the sightlines close to the old single glass, and we draw the sections that conservation officers usually ask to see.

Sash or casement?

Most Victorian and Edwardian London houses have box sash windows; cottages, mews and many 1920s and 1930s houses have casements. We replace like for like unless your architect specifies otherwise.

How it works

Send the opening: sizes, a few photos or the architect's drawings, by email or through the form. We draw it to the opening and send a fixed price, usually within 48 hours. We then measure on site and you sign the workshop drawings before anything is made. After manufacture we deliver and fit, and leave the site clean.

Questions we are asked

How long do made-to-measure timber windows take?

6 to 10 weeks from signed drawings to fitting.

Can you match windows in a conservation area?

Yes. We match profiles, glazing bars, horns and mouldings to the original and provide section drawings for planning or listed building consent.

Are the windows double glazed?

Yes, with slim double glazing that keeps the look of the original single glass.

Do you supply timber windows without fitting?

Yes. Supply only goes out in group deliveries across London every few weeks, or we survey, supply and fit.

What timber do you use?

Engineered timber, laminated all the way through, factory painted. No hollow plastic and no filler.
